Dance Performance & Tea with Patricia Bulitt
November 8, 2015, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Please join us in the Art Center’s Painting Studio for a performance by Patricia Bulitt, dancer and interdisiciplinary artist. She will perform her original MOTHER OF MUKLUK SEAL MASK DANCE, in a traditionally made seal gut parka by Neva Rivers of Alaska.
A collaborator with textile artist, Pat Hickman, Patricia will bring a ” gut dress” sewn from dried hog casings in 1980 and a paper dress commemorating her friendship with the late Ms Rivers.
Bulitt’s work as a dancer embodying the textile from the far north enlarges our understanding of “wearable art.” This program is being presented in conjunction with our Fall Exhibition Body as Agent: Changing Fashion Art. Free and open to the public.
