Zena Segre

About Zena’s work: “My ceramics are playful works that draw inspiration from toys. Their forms often imply multiple or mysterious functionalities, encouraging viewers to get creative while engaging with the work. Each piece is individually thrown or cast in porcelain and then hand painted with food safe glazes. All my work is handmade, primarily on a potters wheel. I use colorful food safe glazes and a porcelain clay body.”

Zena is an Oakland-based artist with a background in interdisciplinary sculpture. For the past couple years she has specialized in ceramics, crafting functional objects that work to foster a sense of curiosity. She also works as a local arts educator.
