Daud caught the photo bug at eleven when he got a camera and a small home darkroom. He later studied photography, but mosaic arts ultimately grabbed him. While working an electrical job in 1996, he needed cut colored glass, so he checked every book on making mosaics out from the library and has been at it ever since. Daud teaches young people as they spruce up our city with public art. If you haven’t seen him and his students working, you’ve certainly seen the products of their labor. One of his recent projects is to embellish and beautify Oakland and Richmond’s trashcans with mosaic art.
