If you would like to pre-register and reserve space, please fill out the Summer Art Camp Release Form. Camp staff will contact you when classes are available.

Join us for Summer Art Camp Open House, Saturday, April 4, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Open House is an opportunity to meet art teachers, camp staff, volunteers and preview the art projects and activities scheduled.

Summer Art Camp at the Richmond Art Center provides creative experiences for young artists! 


Summer Art Camp 2020 is available June 10 through August 14. Camp will be closed during the week of July 4, June 29 through July 3. Camps run Monday through Friday or 5 consecutive days Monday to Friday and 3 hours long. Morning Camps are scheduled from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and Afternoon Camps are scheduled from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. 

Aftercare is available for Morning and Afternoon Camps. Aftercare runs Monday through Friday, 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Please sign-up for aftercare for the same week you have registered your Art Camps. Aftercare sign-up is separate from Art Camp registration.

Parents or Caregivers must complete the required registration forms in addition to registering campers for classes or aftercare. See the forms section below.

Costs and Fees:

Morning Art Camps: $190 per week

Afternoon Art Camps: $190 per week

Aftercare: $30 per week

Register for Art Camp Online, In Person, or Over the Phone

Select the Art Camp for your child/children to attend and complete the registration online, in-person or over the phone at (510) 620-1245. This is only available after registration opens April 4th, 2020.

Complete Your Registration

Your registration will not be complete until the required forms are submitted. Registration is complete when you receive a final email with your Registration Confirmation and any additional camp information.

Summer Art Camp Policies (English)

Program Overview

The Richmond Art Center’s Summer Art Camp Program provides youth ages 5 to 14 an exciting immersion and exploration of a variety of visual art practices. Summer Art Camp is held Monday through Friday for nine weeks from early June to early August. Art Camps are three hours each day with the Morning Camp (9:30am to 12:30pm), Afternoon Camp (1:30pm to 4:30pm) and Aftercare (4:30pm to 5:30pm).

Morning Check-In is from 9am to 9:30am, Morning Check-Out and Afternoon Check-In from 12:30pm to 1:30PM, Afternoon Check-Out from 4:30pm to 5pm, and coordinating Aftercare through 5:30pm.

Art Camper Check-in and Check-out

A parent or guardian must walk their student into the Summer Art Camp Check-in and Check-out Area inside the Richmond Art Center building. Campers must be Signed-In and Signed-Out for Camps. The building will not be open before 9:00 AM or after 5:30 PM. Please read the full Summer Art Camp Policies for details.

Camper Check-in and Check-out Hours:

Morning Camper Check-in: 9:00-9:30 AM 
Morning Camper Check-out: 12:30 – 12:45 PM.

Afternoon Camper Check-in: 1:15-1:30 PM
End-of-Day Camper Check-out: 4:30-4:45 PM

After-Care Check-out: no later than 5:30 PM

Supervised Lunch


Students who sign up for both a morning and an afternoon camp session may participate in Supervised Lunch. This includes supervision and activities in our enclosed courtyard between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM. Students must bring their own bagged lunch, however students may not bring snack that contain or have been exposed to nuts as this is a NUT FREE CAMP. Please read the full Summer Art Camp Policies for details.


We offer Aftercare as an Add-On to Summer Art Camp Classes in the Camp offerings, you must enroll your camper(s) for the week(s) you require Aftercare. Students enrolled for Morning and/or Afternoon Art Camp(s) may also enroll in After-Care from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. We recommend that students bring a snack. End-of-Day Art Camper Check-out and Aftercare Check-out is held in our Courtyard until 5:00pm. Aftercare Check-out will be held in studio after 5:00 PM. Caregivers will need to use the 25th Street Entrance after 5:00 PM. Students must be checked-out and picked up by 5:30 PM at the latest.

Late Pick-Up Fees

It is important that you pick up your child on time from Summer Art Camp or Aftercare. There is a 15-minute grace period for pick-up and drop-off with notice. Please try to be at the Richmond Art Center at the beginning of the pick-up time. 

Morning or Afternoon Late Fee is $10.00 per camper picked-up 15 minutes later than their Check-out time. If campers are picked-up late more than three times, the child may be dropped from the program at the Summer Art Camp Program Manager’s discretion.

Aftercare Late Fee is $25.00 per camper picked-up later than 5:35 PM. If a child is left at the Richmond Art Center after 6:00 PM, the police will be notified and your child will be removed from camp.


Summer Art Camp Classes are designed for ages 5 to 14. Each class is designed to fill the skill set for each age range: Ages 5-7, Ages 8-10, Ages 11-14. Class age ranges are based on the skill set for each age range, and not on a child’s artistic ability. No exceptions are made. 


For children or teens with disabilities, learning differences or special medical needs, please speak with the Studio Education Manager prior to registering your child to ensure that we can provide the best support. Please also review our Summer Art Camp Policies for details.
