The Richmond Art Center began in 1936 with the vision of one woman with a suitcase packed with art supplies. Today, thanks to our donors, we are the largest visual arts center in the East Bay, delivering exciting art experiences to thousands of people each year.

Study after study has proven the importance of the arts in keeping kids in school and increasing graduation rates, especially for young people in low-income communities. Art helps bring people of varied backgrounds and ethnicities together and builds a stronger community.

As a 501c3 nonprofit, we depend on financial support from many sources, including the City of Richmond, foundations, individuals and businesses. See a list of the generous donors who make our work possible.

Ways to Give

One-time or recurring tax-deductible gift

Your one-time or recurring tax-deductible gift helps us bring the joy of art-making to more community members. Donate online.

Double Your Donation

Donations of $200–$999 will go twice as far thanks to a generous donor who will match your donation one-to-one, up to the first $10,000. The City of Richmond will also generously match your gift of $1,000 or more, dollar for dollar, up to the first $100,000. Donate online.

Matching Donations

Matching gifts are an easy way to increase the impact of your contribution at no additional cost to you. Check with your company’s Human Resources department to see if it is one of the thousands in the Bay Area which matches donations to nonprofits. If so, request a Matching Gift form and mail it to us at the address below. We’ll take care of the rest.
