Free art making activities open to the public. All ages and families welcome. All materials included.
Join us for the next See & Make Art, Saturday, February 22, 1:30 – 3:30 PM, as we learn essential strokes and techniques for Japanese Sumi-e, ink brush painting to make CATS!
What is Sumi-e?
Sumi-e, is Japanese for Black Ink Painting. Sumi-e was introduced in Japan by Zen Buddhist monks in the late 13th century. East Asian painting and writing developed together in ancient China using brush and ink on paper. Emphasis is placed on the beauty of each individual stroke of the brush.
