New Art Instruction Videos for Young People!

Our Art in the Community (AIC) Program has been busy creating digital content for the entire West Contra Costa Unified School District. These videos reflect the resourcefulness and flexibility AIC Teaching Artists brought to the challenge of unexpectedly being required to shift to online instruction.

Videos in both English and Mandarin offer inventive art activities for young people to get creative at home – limited to no art materials required!

Thank you to the Teaching Artists for the creativity and joy you bring to your WCCUSD classrooms. And for allowing us to share these videos with the public.

Meet Richmond Art Collective Liberación Gráfica

Liberación Gráfica is a collective from Richmond composed of artists, educators, and community members that create work to uplift social justice, the Richmond community, and young people’s voices. The collective moves through the community by live printing in community spaces, schools, and at local events. They can also often be found working in RAC’s print studio.

Liberación Gráfica values the sharing of knowledge. As educators the collective has developed a curriculum that helps young people engage in screen printing through exploring historical political posters and creating their own posters on topics they feel most connected to.

Online Project

Over and Under

This exhibition is informed by the interchange of ideas and material, the crisscrossing of bodies and objects, and the weaving of histories and personal narratives. – Kevin B. Chen, Juror

In mid-March 2020, staff at RAC had just hung the last artwork for the exhibition Over and Under when COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders caused the abrupt closure of the galleries. For the past eight weeks this exhibition had an unperceived existence… until now! View this online project to see amazing work by sixteen remarkable artists.
