Summer Catalog & Message from Our Interim Executive Director
Dear Members and Friends,
I recently represented Richmond Art Center at the California for the Arts Summit in Sacramento. The theme, “Art, Resistance, and the Long Arc of Justice,” was truly inspiring and motivating. It is the 50th Anniversary of the California Arts Council (CAC), and we are advocating for an increase in CAC funding to $50 million. Please contact your state senator and assembly member to support this effort.
Looking ahead to summer:
- Enrollment is open for summer classes. Spaces are filling quickly. Browse our Summer Catalog for upcoming program information and reserve your spot online.
- The Annual Members’ Meeting will take place on Saturday, June 27, 12pm-1pm. Meet Richmond Art Center leadership, and hear what’s ahead for the organization. All members, as well as the general public, are invited to attend.
- As we celebrate our 90th anniversary this year, we are collecting community stories. Please share a memory, a meaningful moment, or your thoughts on what makes Richmond Art Center important, and what it can become in the future.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to share that, after six years of leadership, José Rivera has officially retired as Executive Director of Richmond Art Center (May 2026). We are deeply grateful for his service and wish him the very best as he moves into nonprofit consulting. Our search for a new Executive Director is underway, and we will share updates in the near future.
Make some art!
