About: Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA) and NAKA Dance Theater are proud to present our first Fotonovela, a booklet of expressive art created by MUA members. We managed to express our emotions in different ways, through dialogue, the body and illustrations. Since our team is made up of people who speak different languages (Maya Mam, Spanish and English), using illustrations in the magazine seemed like the most appropriate way to express ourselves , without having to choose a particular language, while still recognizing the languages. and traditions of each. We make visible in the magazine gender problems, social inequalities and cultural and socioeconomic concerns.

A Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA) y NAKA Dance Theater nos enorgullece presentar nuestra primera Fotonovela, un cuadernillo de arte expresivo creado por las miembras de MUA. Logramos expresar nuestras emociones de diferentes maneras, a través del diálogo, el cuerpo y las ilustraciones. Dado que nuestro equipo está compuesto por personas que hablan diferentes idiomas (maya mam, español e inglés), usar ilustraciones en la revista nos pareció la forma más adecuada de expresarnos, sin necesidad de elegir un idioma en particular, sin dejar de reconocer las lenguas y tradiciones de cada uno. Visibilizamos en la revista los problemas de género, las desigualdades sociales y las preocupaciones culturales y socioeconómicas.
