The galleries will be closed Saturday, September 5, 2026, in observance of Labor Day, and Wednesday, November 11, 2026, in observance of Veterans Day.

Richmond Art Center founder Hazel Salmi recorded that the Center’s first student exhibition took place in 1937, noting that “much was learned” by the students from the experience. This spirit of creative courage continues to guide Richmond Art Center’s commitment to arts education today.
First Impressions celebrates this ongoing tradition of student exhibitions, highlighting the creativity and experimentation of Richmond Art Center’s printmaking students. The exhibition features relief, screen, woodblock, monotype, and cyanotype prints alongside early print flyers from the archives that trace the history of student exhibitions at the Center. First Impressions is part of Richmond Art Center’s 90th Anniversary celebrations.
