Eyes For Trees

Artist: Nikolas Radey

Holiday Sales? Yes

Work: I combine hand blown glass and interesting pieces of wood to create animals, monsters, faces, and aliens. Sometimes the wood portions require me to do some carving and/or wood burning to get the desired result. Some are more realistic, some abstract. Some pieces are scary/spooky, some are goofy/comical. They range in price from $40 up to $400. Unfortunately my pieces don’t mail well so they either need to be picked up or delivered. I’m happy to work with you to make that happen. Please contact me if you are interested in one (or more) of my pieces to discuss price and pick up/delivery details. I am open to commissions, if you have a piece of wood and a vision I’d be happy to bring it to life.

About: I grew up in Oakland and was fortunate to have parents who taught me to love and appreciate nature. I learned how to blow glass using a bench torch in the late 90s while attending HSU. Fast forward to 2015 when I began a new career path doing tree work for a small local company. On Thanksgiving 2016 I went for a hike with a friend and coworker and found the first piece. It was a chunk of redwood stump that spoke to me, “….this needs a glass eye here and some teeth put in here and you get….” I couldn’t wait to get home and make it happen. Since then making these pieces has become my ‘thing’. It’s what I would do if I didn’t have to go to work. I find new pieces while hiking, at the beach, and on job sites. Searching for new pieces is half the fun. Needless to say I enjoy the whole process start to finish. My home has become a gallery and is nearly filled. I’m hoping to find new homes for some pieces to make space for future creations.

Last Note: I hope you enjoy looking at my artwork. Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or encouragement. Many thanks!
