Participating in the Holiday Arts Festival

Each year the Holiday Arts Festival offers over 1,000 visitors a chance to buy unique gifts from local arts and crafts vendors, enjoy food and beverages, and participate in art-making activities for the whole family. The Festival’s gift sale runs from 10am to 5pm at Richmond Art Center, 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond.

Call for Arts and Crafts Vendors! Richmond Art Center is now accepting applications from local artists, artisans, crafters and makers to sell their work at the Holiday Arts Festival. This shop-local event is a great way to expose your work to a creative audience that appreciates hand-crafted gifts. The deadline for vendors to apply is October 2. Applications are juried and selected vendors will be notified by October 12. There is no application fee and first-time vendors to the Festival are encouraged to participate.

Richmond Art Center provides: Vendor contract, table, chair/s, vendor sign (if needed), wall space (as requested/as available), electrical outlet (as requested/as available), time for set-up and deinstall, online vendor listing

Promotion: During the holiday season, Richmond Art Center will be promoting The Holiday Arts Festival via online and print advertising, social media, our e-newsletter, via community partnerships, and at community events. Vendors will also have the opportunity to promote their websites in our online Arts & Crafts Hub on Richmond Art Center’s website.

Jurying Process: Unfortunately we don’t have space to accept all vendors who apply for a table at the Holiday Arts Festival. As a result applications are juried by a panel made up of RAC staff. Things we look for when reviewing applications include: Artistic Quality; Sales Potential; Media Range Across Vendors; and Community Connection.

Press Release: Andrés Cisneros-Galindo Exhibition Extended at Richmond Art Center

Nahui Ollin: The work of Andrés Cisneros-Galindo

New Exhibition Dates: June 28 – November 16, 2023

Andrés Cisneros-Galindo Print Demo: Saturday, October 7, 12pm-3pm

Richmond Art Center

2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond, CA 94804

Gallery Hours: Wed-Sat, 10am-4pm

Richmond, CA: Richmond Art Center is pleased to announce the first major survey of Andrés Cisneros-Galindo’s work, Nahui Ollin, has been extended through November 16.

The exhibition’s curator Roberto Martinez says, “We are happy to lengthen the run of this exhibition – it will give the community an extended opportunity to learn about the life and artistic trajectory of influential Bay Area artist Andrés Cisneros-Galindo whose work spans over 50 years and has helped move forward grassroots community efforts for self-determination, education, and cultural expression.”

Nahui Ollin offers an intimate perspective into Cisneros-Galindo’s experiences as a Mexican immigrant, activist, educator and artist. From the political posters that helped mobilize the Bay Area’s Chicano community to the abstract expressionist paintings that embody fragments and cultural vestiges of the immigrant identity, this exhibition highlights how Cisneros-Galindo’s practice has always been integrated in contemporary struggles around race, education, the environment, justice and democracy both in the U.S. and in Mexico.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the artist will be presenting a hands-on print workshop at Fall Family Day on Saturday, October 7 from 12pm to 3pm. The free, all ages event is an opportunity to meet the artist and learn about his unique printing techniques.

Nahui Ollin and Fall Family Day are free, open to all and no rsvp is necessary. Richmond Art Center is located at 2540 Barrett Avenue in Richmond.

FY2022-2023 Impact Report

FY2022-2023 Impact Report

Richmond Art Center’s programs continue to provide pathways for lifelong arts learning through exhibitions, arts education, and community events. This Impact Report offers a snapshot of how our work over the past year has engaged the local community, especially Richmond-residents and under-resourced artists.

Behind the scenes, the organization is strong and stable. During two years of the pandemic we were able to stay afloat and operate without a deficit. In FY2022-23 Richmond Art Center planned a budget deficit – in order to build back quickly post-pandemic with new programs and staff – and were able to end the year with a much smaller loss than expected. We have been successful in securing new major grants while also increasing vital grassroots support through individual donations, memberships, and volunteer service.

And we’re proud to have received recognition for our work. Over the past twelve months, Richmond Art Center’s exhibitions have been positively reviewed in the San Francisco Chronicle, East Bay Express, Richmond Confidential, Daily Californian, and Artforum, to name a few. Parents Press selected our art classes and camps for “Best of” Reader’s Choice awards.
