We felt the love at our Go Fish! community party the other week. Thank you to everyone who showed up in support our first in-person fundraiser since the pandemic. We met our fundraising goals and had a great time doing it!

Artwork Drop Off Location: Richmond Art Center is located at 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond, CA 94804. Parking is available in the parking lot on 25th Street across the street from the art center. You can enter the building via the gallery entrance on Barrett Avenue or via the loading ramp on 25th Street.
Artist Bio/CV and Statement (optional): When you drop off your artwork you may bring in a printed artist bio/CV (1 page) and artist statement (1 page) if you would like them to be included in the artist binder.
Insurance: Richmond Art Center will provide fine art insurance for all artwork while at Richmond Art Center only. This insurance does not cover artwork in transport to and from RAC.
Artwork Loan Form: When you drop off your artwork at the center you’ll be asked to sign an artwork loan form (we will have this prepared for you). If you need to change your artwork information or contact details you can edit this on the form.
Packing Material: We cannot store your artwork packing material for you. Please be prepared to take it with you after you drop off your artwork
Sales: Artists may list their work for sale. Richmond Art Center’s commission is 30%. The artist retains 70%.
Installation Ready: Before you bring your artwork to the gallery check that it is: – Labeled with your full name (on the back for 2D work, underneath for 3D work) – Ready to hang with any appropriate hardware: hanging wire, d-rings, etc. – Any glass is clean and free of fingerprints – For work on paper, framed is best!

Late registration is open for artists wanting to participate in the Art Of The African Diaspora Satellite Exhibitions, Open Studios & the Online Exhibition. The gallery at Richmond Art Center has reached its capacity of exhibiting artists. However, the Steering Committee encourages artists to still register to participate in other Art of the African Diaspora opportunities.The late fee to register is $95. See below for details.
Eligibility: Participation is open to all artists of African descent, who are 16 years or older, and who reside/work within the nine counties of the Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma).

Artwork size:
Wall-hanging artwork may not exceed 40 inches high and 40 inches wide (including the frame)
3D artwork may not exceed 40 inches in any direction
Artwork number: One artwork entry per artist
New and original work: Artwork submissions must be original work created since 2020 that have not previously been exhibited at Richmond Art Center.

Artists without a space for open studios/satellite exhibitions can request to be offered a space. Artists who do not wish to participate in open studios/satellite exhibitions may choose to opt out at the time of registration (the fee remains the same).

Fees: Entry fees are non-refundable.
Photography and Image Use: Richmond Art Center and Art of the African Diaspora reserve the right to use images of submitted artwork, and to photograph the artist, artwork and exhibition for publicity, documentation, and fundraising purposes.
Exhibition at Richmond Art Center:
Delivery of Artwork: Artwork must be delivered to Richmond Art Center during scheduled drop off dates: Friday, January 5, 11am-4pm and Saturday, January 6, 11am-4pm. Artists who cannot drop off their artwork during these times should arrange for someone else to deliver it for them.
Sales: For any artwork sales at Richmond Art Center: RAC’s commission on a sale is 30%; artist retains 70%. Artists may choose to show their work as NFS (not for sale).
Pick Up: All unsold artworks must be picked up on the scheduled days: Saturday, March 16, 4pm-5:30pm or Monday, March 18, 11am-4pm
Open Studios Participants: If an artist or venue hosts other artists, each artist must be a registered participant of Art of the African Diaspora.

Richmond Art Center’s programs continue to provide pathways for lifelong arts learning through exhibitions, arts education, and community events. This Impact Report offers a snapshot of how our work over the past year has engaged the local community, especially Richmond-residents and under-resourced artists.
Behind the scenes, the organization is strong and stable. During two years of the pandemic we were able to stay afloat and operate without a deficit. In FY2022-23 Richmond Art Center planned a budget deficit – in order to build back quickly post-pandemic with new programs and staff – and were able to end the year with a much smaller loss than expected. We have been successful in securing new major grants while also increasing vital grassroots support through individual donations, memberships, and volunteer service.
And we’re proud to have received recognition for our work. Over the past twelve months, Richmond Art Center’s exhibitions have been positively reviewed in the San Francisco Chronicle, East Bay Express, Richmond Confidential, Daily Californian, and Artforum, to name a few. Parents Press selected our art classes and camps for “Best of” Reader’s Choice awards.

The Holiday Arts Festival features a marketplace of 50+ Bay Area makers selling unique designs, artisanal products, and handmade merchandise. Shop locally-made holiday gifts while supporting independent artists and small businesses!
Visitors can also experience the famous Ceramics Studio Sale; the best deal on handmade, beautiful and usable ceramics in the Bay Area. All items are made by Richmond Art Center’s students, teachers and friends. Proceeds from the Ceramics Sale benefit Richmond Art Center.
Other activities at the festival include live caricatures; free art-making activities; a raffle of donated items from local artists and businesses; and the opportunity to buy artist designed Richmond Art Center merchandise.

Richmond Art Center’s Holiday Arts Festival 2023
Event Date: Sunday, December 3, 2023, 10am-5pm
The Holiday Arts Festival offers visitors a chance to buy unique gifts from local arts and crafts vendors, enjoy food and beverages, and participate in art-making activities for the whole family. The Festival’s gift sale runs from 10am to 5pm at Richmond Art Center, 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond.
In 2022, over 50 vendors participated and 1,100 folk attended the event.

Fall Family Day will feature a community mural with Luis Garcia, Powwow reading corner, drop-in art making activities, games, music, and vendors. The free event is open to kids of all ages and their grown-ups. No rsvp is necessary.
